What is Control Resonant?
Control Resonant is Remedy Entertainment's action RPG sequel to Control, built on the Northlight engine and set in a paranaturally twisted Manhattan seven years after Jesse Faden walked into the Oldest House. You play Dylan Faden, who trades the original's telekinetic gunplay for melee-led combat with the Aberrant, a shapeshifting weapon that reforms into different armaments mid-fight.
It is Remedy's most expansive game to date — open-ended but not open world: large, distinct zones packed with side quests, hidden encounters and optional discoveries, layered with character stats, a freely respeccable talent tree, artifacts and paranatural abilities earned from Resonant bosses. The story is written to work for newcomers, and a recap of the first game sits in the main menu.

Control Resonant launches worldwide on September 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM GMT — 7:00 AM PT, 10:00 AM ET, 3:00 PM BST — on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and Epic, with GeForce NOW at launch and Mac later in 2026. Because it is one simultaneous global unlock rather than a rolling local-midnight release, changing your console region will not let you in early. PS5 Digital Deluxe owners are the only exception: their 48-hour early access starts September 22. Physical editions, including the SteelBook, follow on October 15.
Lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov puts the main story at roughly 30 hours, with completionist runs closer to 50. Remedy communications director Thomas Puha rolled credits at 35 hours on a thorough first playthrough, and PlayStation.Blog frames the campaign as 25–35 hours. For scale, the original Control averaged about 11 hours, so this is roughly three times longer.
No. Remedy designed Resonant as an entry point and built a Control recap into the main menu, so newcomers only need three concepts: the FBC contains paranatural phenomena, the Hiss is the reality-corrupting force from the first game, and Objects of Power are ordinary items warped into something dangerous. Playing the original first does make the sibling reversal land harder — this time Dylan is the one searching for Jesse.
There is no confirmed day-one Game Pass release. A now-deleted Xbox UK Instagram post briefly labelled it as one, but neither Remedy nor Xbox has confirmed anything, and the Xbox, PlayStation and Steam storefronts all list it at full price with no Game Pass badge. Remedy self-publishes this game and has never put a new release on the service day one. GeForce NOW support at launch is the only subscription-adjacent option confirmed.

- Roughly 104 GB on PC, 90 GB on PS5 and 82 GB on Xbox Series X|S. The PC requirements call for 120 GB of free SSD space. Pre-load opens 48 hours before launch on September 22, or September 20 for PS5 Digital Deluxe owners, and PC players have to start it manually in Steam or the Epic Games Store.
- Does Control Resonant use Denuvo?
- As of September 18, 2026 the Steam store page lists no third-party DRM notice, which is where Valve requires Denuvo Anti-Tamper to be disclosed. The original Control also shipped without Denuvo. This can change at launch, so treat it as a dated answer and re-check the store page.

- Every platform gets the Hiss Corruption Outfit and the Pickpocket’s Tool Artifact, and PlayStation pre-orders add the Occult Outfit. Buying on the Epic Games Store also grants the Dylan Faden Outfit in Fortnite. There is no redeem-code system — the bonuses unlock at the end of Act 1 rather than at the start.

- PS5 offers Performance at 1440p/60 and Quality at 2160p/30. PS5 Pro adds Performance at 2160p/60, Balanced at 2160p/40 with ray tracing on a 120Hz display, and Quality at 2160p/30 with ray tracing, all using PSSR.
